My Specialties
Narration
The foundation of any audio story is solid narrative skill.
After 30 years of musical theatre experience, I have developed an innate sense of how to bring stories to life with varied pacing, character work, and attention to even the tiniest details. I’m thrilled to see how your book would sound!
Character
Growing up on a steady diet of Disney movies inspired my love of voicing characters of all shapes and sizes. Since then, I’ve taken lessons with several professional vocal coaches who have increased my ability to play and develop appropriate voices. Stories that require several distinct characters are my specialty.
Singing
Many children’s stories involve singing sweet little ditties – maybe a song of freedom or a song of remembrance – and I love providing vocalization within a production to add to the listener’s experience. I’m happy to follow the melody as you’ve imagined it or even make one up on the spot!
Music & Sound Effects
Music and sound effects (SFX) provide a special added layer of reality and intrigue to the life of your story. Little ears will tune in immediately with intro music that is tailored to the world you’ve created. Then, finding just the right sfx for various moments helps littles craft the story in their imagination!
The Process
FAQ
What all will I receive with my purchase?
Of course, it’s important to know what’s included. You will receive:
+ Thorough communication and audio files throughout the process to ensure your audiobook sounds just the way you want it to!
+ Mp3 or wav audio files of your book (other formats may be available)
+ Files mastered and formatted to ACX/Audible standards
+ Separated files as needed (e.g. – Intro, Dedication, Chapter 1, Outro)
+ Unlimited revisions based on any script-based errors I may make
+ Up to 2 revisions of minor sections (10% or less) based on author rewrites, etc.
+ Music/SFX as outlined in pricing guide as add-on services
What happens if I change my script and I want the audiobook updated?
I understand the process to get everything exactly the way you want it to be can take time, and I’m happy to make changes. I include up to 2 revisions of minor sections (10% or less of the full project) based on author rewrites during the process. After finalized files have been delivered, there will be a small fee for additional changes to the project.
Do you give discounts on your standard rates for series, return clients, etc.?
Absolutely! I love working with good clients again and again! Series, long-term projects, returning clients and the like may receive a discount to be determined on a case-by-case basis.
How is payment handled?
Currently, I work with PayPal, Venmo, and Square. If none of those work well for you, we can discuss this further during a discovery call.
I think I like your voice, but what if I’m not sure it’s perfect for my book?
Please be assured, I want to make sure my voice fits your book and vision perfectly. This is your baby, and it needs to be the best it can be! As stated in the process section above, I will send you samples of short sections early on and we can go back and forth with direction until we land on a sound you love. And if you find my voice isn’t quite right for your project in those early stages, no hard feelings! I’ll even help direct you to some friends of mine who might be a better fit!
